Halloween Photo -- 2014
Halloween Photo -- 2014
The first trick-or-treater has arrived at the Confessor's Vestry!
And, what do you know, he's wearing a Ben Cooper Confessor costume!!!
This is both my inaugural Halloween Photo and the first
experiment with my digital camera's exposure setting.

Man-Bat Build Part 1
My "How to Make an Asteroid M Playset" series went
over quite well, so I'm going to try and do more making-off posts. I thought my
Man-Bat figure would be a good subject. I've been meaning to build some DC Comics Noble Monsters for my collection, and, with the recent purchase of a
sizeable parts lot, I now have everything I need for a really nice Man-Bat.
The lot of parts had a variety of bodies to choose from. I
chose a body that allows the arms to swivel straight up and out from the sides of
the body (a Bif Bang Pow! "Flash Gordon" body). This will allow
Man-Bat to show off his wings when completed.
I sanded the neck plug of the resin Man-Bat head and fit it
into the body. The parts lot had some pieces from Emce's Zombie Kit, and there
was a pair of lanky zombie hands that reminded me of how Neil Adams draws
Man-Bat's hands. I unhinged a pair of regular Mego hands at the wrist joint and
replaced them with the zombie hands.
I found a pair of jeans in my main inventory for him. He's
now ready for painting. While I'm painting him, I'll figure out how I want to
construct his wings.

Trent from Harlan Ellison's "The Outer Limits" episode "Demon with a Glass Hand"
"Like the Eternal Man of Babylonian legend, like
Gilgamesh, one thousand plus two hundred years stretches before Trent. Without
love. Without friendship. Alone; neither man nor machine, Waiting. Waiting for
the day he will be called to free the humans who gave him mobility. Movement,
but not life."

1/9 Scale Golden Commode from "Raiders Lost in the Dark"
When I discovered that Figures Toy Co. makes a Mego-sized
toilet, I knew what had to be done:
1/9 Scale Golden Commode from "Raiders Lost in the
Dark".
I met my good friend Bryan way back in the early 80s, a foreboding
time of difficult change for me. We met at a Creation Sci-Fi/Comics convention,
and, sharing a love of storytelling and all things geeky, became instant
friends. A few years later, Bryan invited me to participate in his independent
film "Raiders Lost in the Dark", a feature-length spoof of "Raiders
of the Lost Ark". It was a blast.
The 80s were difficult, but I made some great, lifelong
friends. Bryan is among the best. I made this custom as a 50th birthday gift for him. I truly hope it honors and celebrates
our more than three decades of friendship.

8" Confessor with Removable Mask and Card
Finally,
at long last, I've completed the 8" Mego version of my all-time favorite
character (That's all-time, in any genre, any medium).
